Linyi Airport is located at the southeast of Linyi City, neighboring the 205 State-Highway with 7 kilometers away from the city center. Besides, the airport is 6 kilometers away from Yanshi Railway, 15 kilometers away from Beijing-Shanghai Expressway and 25 kilometers from Rizhao-Dongming Expressway.
As the first civil airport in Shandong Province, Linyi Airport was initially built in 1958 and was expanded in 1994 at its own charge. In 2006, Bureau of Linyi Civil Aviation was set up by Linyi Municipal Government to administrate the airport. After another expansion in 2009, Linyi Airport was developed into a 4C-level airport covering a total area of 150 hectares with station site of 36,000 square meters and terminal building of 23,000 square meters, containing 4 deck bridges. Additionally, it was equipped with advanced all-weather landing system, aid lighting equipments and communication & navigation facilities.
Presently, Linyi Airport owns 24 air routes managed by 9 airline companies with weekly 120 flights arriving 19 cities across China. In 2015, Linyi Airport opened up its first international air route to South Korea.
